After an extensive search and interviews with top design firms, the One Arroyo Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of RJM Design Group to design two demonstration projects in the Arroyo Seco.  Their design will address the connection points at Hahamonga’s Woodland Loop and the Colorado Street Bridge Streamside Walk.  These demonstration projects are the first step toward achieving the Foundation's goal of creating a unified One Arroyo trail.

Established in 1987, RJM Design Group is a multi-disciplinary planning and landscape architectural design firm serving public agencies and organizations throughout the West.  Their impressive body of work includes significant open space projects at:

The San Joaquin Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary – Irvine

Crystal Cove Beach – Newport Beach

Desert Woodland Preserve – Lancaster

Yosemite Falls – Yosemite National Park

John Onderdonk, who served on the One Arroyo selection committee said,  “RJM’s experience with open space trails in unique places such as Yosemite stood out.  I think their subtle, unpretentious approach to trail design fits perfectly with these natural sections of the trail and will be very well received.”

RJM’s extensive community outreach experience and unique ability to develop a meaningful community platform greatly influenced the One Arroyo board’s decision. RJM’s scope of work includes the development of a project website where the community can experience the trail network in a 360° virtual environment, understand the extent of planning considerations, and provide feedback in online surveys.  This continuous public dialogue will ensure the opportunity for all community members to become informed and involved in the development of the One Arroyo Trail Demonstration Projects.

The One Arroyo Foundation looks forward to working with RJM Design Group and continuing our endeavor to restore, connect, and preserve Pasadena’s historic Arroyo Seco.
