Judy Kent, Administrative Assistant

A native Pasadenan, Judy graduated from Pasadena High School in 1962 and Pasadena City College in 1964. In 1965, she accepted a temporary position with the City of Pasadena which turned into a 35-year career. She retired in December of 2000. During her tenure she held various positions at City Hall before being promoted in 1968 to Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and Board of Directors – now known as the City Council. She was privileged to have work with Pasadena’s only women mayors (to date), Josephine (Jo) Heckman, Loretta Thompson-Glickman, and Kathryn (Katie) Nack. After 17 years in the position, she was appointed Assistant City Clerk, a position held until she retired. 

Following retirement, Judy served as Field Representative to then Mayor Bill Bogaard from 2006-2010 and as Deputy City Clerk (part time) assisting with the City’s Municipal Elections in 2011, 2013, 2015 & 2017. In 2008 she was one of nine Pasadena women awarded the Medal of Excellence from Women At Work organization. 

Judy was married 38 years to Donald Kent (deceased 2009), has three stepchildren, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family. She currently serves as president of her Homeowner’s Association and has been a volunteer with the Pasadena Police Department since 2014.
